Goliards’ Academy

The Academy was the garden where Plato taught the Athenians philosophy. We would also like to pass on a certain philosophy, through wine.

 

It is a group of Goliards who receive, monthly or quarterly, a selection of wines to try and to enjoy, in a goliardic way.

 

We promote get-togethers and exchanges:

By organizing get-togethers every term, with a special free wine tasting for all members. 

Through our blog so that the academy can allow you to continue to learn in an interactive way. 

 

WHY THE GOLIARDS’ ACADEMY ?

Many Goliards want to discover, every month, different wines that are selected with care, combining learning about wine and exchanges among Goliards. 

You know us through the courses or through the wine cellar and trust is important to you when receiving wines from our cellar. This way you can extend the pleasures you experienced when spending evenings here. 

Another worthy reason for receiving wines at home would be a lack of time to come to the wine cellar. You wouldn’t need to settle for the supermarket, where you would often buy a wine that is a “sure thing”, or the same as always, or choose it based on the “bla-bla” on the back of the bottle. 

We want to satisfy these demands. 

 

For us, the most important thing when learning about wine is trying different wines, with different styles, different ages and from different regions. 

The Academy gives you the opportunity to discover a monthly selection of wines adapted to all budgets and all ambitions. These wines will come with information about the wine’s region, the winegrower, the ideal time to drink it and a suggestion of dishes to accompany it.

 

WHAT ARE THE ACADEMY’S CATEGORIES ?

THE SOBER

6 wines for 45 euros (two whites, four reds)

 

THE SERENE

4 wines for 30 euros (one white, three reds)

 

THE PRAGMATIC 

6 wines for 35 euros (two whites, four reds)

 

THE IMPULSIVE

6 wines for 50 euros (two whites, three reds, one sweet wine)

 

THE GREEDY

6 wines for 75 euros (two whites, three reds, one sweet wine)

 

WHAT CRITERIA IN SELECTING WINES?

The Goliards’ wines follow 5 main principles :

- Diversity - the Goliards like cultural exchanges, are curious and open-minded. We like to try different wines from different regions, national or foreign, new wines, old wines, table wines, desert wines, wines for laughing and wines for thinking.

- Wines from the winegrower – wines that transmit a natural and human landscape, from a parcel to a winegrower, that turn it into a wine with a story. All our wines come from winegrowers whose vineyards we visited, so as to know the production mode and conditions better, and so that we can pass this history on to our Academy members. 

 

Delivery hours

Delivery established with academic people. Deliveries occured on thursday, friday (night and day) and saturday until 2.

Monthly

Quarterly

at the beginning of each quarter, a free bottle with the first delivery

Semi-anual

at the beginning of each semi-anual, a free bottle with the first delivery

annual with a free settling tank or a set of 6 wine cup, and a ??? of 6 selected bottle*.

*not for the sober

 

Means of payment:

by bank transfer until three days before the delivery at home

by cheque or cash, during the delivery

at the Goliardos’ cellar by Multibanco, cheque or cash, before deliveries are agreed with the academician

 

Price for serious attendant

 

in case of the delivery would be monthly, or quarterly, and there would not have  interruption or “move”  of category during 6 months, the academician will recieve a bottle ofered by the academy corresponding to the valor of his category.
