Château Falfas

Véronique Cochran
Bordeaux

Historic farm on the right bank of the river Gironde, in the Côtes de Bourg appellation, created in 1612 and led by Veronique Cochran who cultivates the 20 ha planted with Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Cabernet-Franc and Malbec varieties in biodynamic agriculture since 1989. The producer’s philosophy is to reveal the wines through a cultivation that stimulates the expressiveness of the vines and accompany the wines during the stages that are made in cement vats and essentially used wood, except for the cuvée Le Chevalier aged in new wood. The southern exposure of the vines, the high average age of the vines, the mild climate and the low yields in syntony with the biodynamic cultivation method already very rooted allow to obtain concentrated grapes that reflect the specificity of the Falfas terroir. Les Demoiselles wines, produced with the newest vines, Château Falfas and Le Chevalier, reconcile them with Bordeaux, revealing firm, digestible wines capable of evolving without wrinkles for several years.
