Sandi Skerk
Friuli

In Friuli we are in that limbo between 2 worlds, between the Balkans and the Roman Catholic world. The Carso and Collio region concentrate a large part of the emblematic producers of Friulian whites, produced with native grape varieties that immediately arouse curiosity such as Ribolla gialla, Vitovska, or Terrano in red. Sandi is part of this perfectionist group of the Friulians who followed the example of Radikon, Gravner to open new horizons for white Italians, with prolonged macerations, long stages (up to 6 years in cask sometimes), minimal use of sulfur dioxide. We can call them Mitteleuropa wines and they are irreducible to a simplistic classification (some call them orange wines but oranges are sometimes …).
