Os Goliardos - Vinhos de Terroir Europeus

After years tasting, the desire to plant sprouted. It was in 2015 that Nadir and Sílvia, after 10 years of Goliardos and a year in Barolo working in vineyard and winery, set out to plant 1 ha of vineyard in the Moreiras Grandes, Ribatejo village of Sílvia’s grandparents, between Torres Novas and Tomar, in the Tejo region, just in the border with the Lisboa region. The climate is Mediterranean, dry with very high thermal amplitudes day and night, and the calcareous soils of the foothills of the Serra d’Aire. Researching here and there, they sought to plant as the old vineyards of the region: in pot, with high density, grafting in the field, and a miscegenation of varieties that practically ceased to exist in the region. Progressively several were the producer friends, goliardos and Tatis who joined the crop, making it a collective project, and were also taking care of old vineyards in the region. In the family winery that has been dormant for 40 years, they test vinifications, oxidations, overages, high interventions, and low religious ageing, with or without veil, that better reveal this historical and forgotten terroir of the center of Portugal, important in medieval times associated with the Cistercian convents and the Templars.
In 2022 are finally launched the first wines Tomaralmá, first name of the city of Tomar, city where Sílvia’s grandfather sold his wines, and that means in Arabic “date water”.

Caspitos are the first wines made, in first daring, white and red without added sulfites.
Volt’aire are the white and red wines of 2016, made from old vineyards of the region.
Sultanas is the sweet white wine from grapes of Fernão Pires super concentrated.
The call to make wine after so many years visiting producers has become an addictive, sometimes exhausting, hand-in-hand pleasure with nature and origins.
