The first record of the vineyards that today belong to La Distesa indicates that Mr Nocenzio de Giovanni owned the land in 1471. In the cupramontana tradition, red wine was produced with various grape varieties and short macerations. Nocenzio is a blend of several vineyard plots in Cupramontana with Sangiovese and Montepulciano, most of which come from a vineyard at the bottom of a place called Valle planted in 1973 on white limestone soil. The wine ferments without the addition of sulphur dioxide in vats, with an important part not destemmed, and finishes its fermentation and ageing in stainless steel.
