Richard Leroy is a wine lover, employed in the banking sector in the 1980s, who animated tastings in Paris within the Grains Nobles wine cellar. An unforeseen encounter with a producer from Coteaux du Layon takes Richard to visit the Chaudefonds sur Layon area and seduced by the region and intrigued by Chenin, he will then find Joel Ménard who will give him the taste of the vine and grab him when the calls in 1996 to advise you to purchase a beautiful plot called Les Noëls de Montbenault, nowadays an almost mythical vineyard. In 1998, Richard and his wife Sophie left Paris to settle with their three children in Rablay sur Layon and in 2000, they acquired the second installment Les Rouliers. While producing only late harvest wines, in 2001 Richard decides to dedicate himself to dry wines, in the line of precursors like Mark Angeli. Today in the three hectares of vineyards, it produces two dry white wines from the plot, with vinifications in barrels used without adding sulfur dioxide since 2005, seeking the most natural expression of Chenin blanc, in the schistous and volcanic soils of Anjou.
