Gemma Miró

Gemma, a biologist by training, wanted to keep her grandparents’ winemaking tradition alive, and decided to focus on her grandfather Jordi’s work to perpetuate his craftsmanship and promote the almost fifty-year-old vines grown in Falset in the south of the Priorat region. Raised by her grandmother to be a free and independent woman, she wants to restore the vitality and affection passed down to her by her family through this project. In 2020, she returned to the family farm Les Pinyanes to organically cultivate a small hectare of Garnacha fina, Carinena and Moscatel de parra vines, giving rise to the ‘vinos del campo del abuelo’ (grandfather’s country wines). The vines grow in granitic soil with clay and licorella (schist typical of the area) and are cultivated manually. Returning to family practices with some technical improvements, she produces three wines: a white Muscat and two single-varietal reds.
