Contrary to the saying, there are few harvests in October. This year, the early start to the harvest broke all records in several countries, and Portugal was no exception. Now that we’ve reached October, most of the wines have already finished fermenting, in a year where, despite the heat, there was a good yield. The end-of-harvest festivities will begin shortly.

Festival TRAÇA
TRAÇA, the Family Archive Film Festival, a project by the Lisbon Municipal Archive | Video Library, returns on 24 and 25 October 2026 for its 5th edition, which will take place in the parish of Campolide. With free admission, the programme will include screenings, guided sessions, performances, exhibitions, walks and activities for a range of audiences.
Under the theme ‘Paisagens Perdidas’ (Lost Landscapes), inspired by Rick Prelinger’s ‘Lost Landscapes’ project, this year’s edition invites reflection on urban transformations and the memory of places through home, amateur and archive film. Drawing on the stories and family archives of Campolide, TRAÇA offers a glimpse into the evolution of the area and its communities.
“Who was holding the camera? It all began in 2014 with a collection of orphan films; old films, nameless, ownerless, lost in time, which had found their way to the Video Library in a rather haphazard manner back in days long past. And TRAÇA was born out of this curiosity: to discover who had filmed those images and to return the gaze to those who stood behind the camera. Since then, the Lisbon Municipal Archive (AML) Film Library project has grown. It has woven together invisible threads, helped to construct new narratives, complemented documentaries and has even brought families back together.
More than just a neatly organised archive of family, domestic, home-made and amateur films, TRAÇA transforms this archive into a living map. Eleven years ago, we began a travelling mapping project through Lisbon; we have already visited the neighbourhoods of Castelo, Madragoa, Chelas, Alvalade and Rego. For this fifth edition, we have set our sights on Campolide, a neighbourhood shaped by striking contrasts. Here, the grandeur of the Águas Livres Aqueduct coexists with the green lung of Monsanto and the fast pace of the major thoroughfares. But the true eclecticism lies in the residents, whose deep-rooted human history stretches back through time, marked by arrivals and departures since the Palaeolithic era. At a time when gentrification threatens to reshape the streets, TRAÇA joins forces with the residents of Campolide, using archive film as a shield of cultural resistance.”
CINEMA AT OS GOLIARDOS
25th October Sunday, 6pm, free entry
Screening and discussion of Constantino Esteves’s 1963 film *9 Rapazes e 1 Cão*, featuring José Filipe Costa, Ricardo Vieira Lisboa and Susana Bessa. On Sunday, the Os Goliardos wine shop will host a screening of Constantino Esteves’s film *9 Rapazes e 1 Cão*, shot in the Campolide neighbourhood in 1963. A journey back in time through the streets of Campolide, accompanied by an informal discussion about the film. The screening is brought to life by contributions from guests José Filipe Costa, Ricardo Vieira Lisboa and Susana Bessa.
