Aphros

Vasco Croft, a cool and flamboyant character from the world of the arts, always on top of the best wave, leads this estate with 20 ha of vineyards in the Ponte de Lima area (Arcos de Valdevez), cultivated in biodynamic agriculture with the support of two winemakers Pedro Bravo and Rui Cunha. The soil is granite and the vineyards are exposed to the south and south-east, 1 kilometre south of the River Lima. The green red is often associated with rusticity and acidity, while the Afros red comes from a vineyard with good exposure to the south, in a well-draining granitic soil that allows the Vinhão to ripen fully and give a wine with a full colour, acidic woodland fruit aromas and softer tannins than usual. The white comes from 9 ha of the Loureiro variety planted in 1992 and 2003 on a gentle south-facing slope. The wine is aged in stainless steel vats before being bottled, giving precise, aromatic wines, with a balance between acidity and sweetness, and a vitality like Vasco.

Raiz

Tiago began by drinking a lot of wine and writing about it from “5 to 8”, combining it with his work as a telecommunications engineer until 5. Travelling, drinking, dreaming, his boat full of memories of bottles from different horizons naturally returned, like Ulysses to Ithaca, to the Atlantic coast to bring together the youthful sensations of the sea and his attraction to the wines of the unloved Bairrada, which he reinvented in the form of Gilda and Maria da Graça. A few years later, he returned to his Minho family roots in Arcos de Valdevez, where he built his winery to launch wines with natural vinifications, based on Loureiro, to create Raiz. If that wasn’t enough, Tiago joins forces with António Marques da Cruz to create the COZ’s project, between wines from the Beira Litoral and the Serra de Montejunto, where Tiago dedicates himself to the arts of viticulture.
