Cuvée Louis Tarlant – Les Crayons
From a place called Les Crayons in Oeuilly, on the banks of the river, on chalky soil carved out by the Marne, the historic terroir of the Marne Valley. Known as a ‘rivière’ wine, the area tends to produce ‘cold’ grapes.
50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay, mass selection (1946–1948).
Harvested in early October 1996; bottled in May 1997; disgorged in June 2023.
A year marked by the north wind, which protected the grapes from frost and dried them after the September rains, allowing for a long ripening cycle.
