Serra de Montejunto (Lisboa) for Castelãoplanted in ’06, North and South oriented, clonal selection, and Bairrada for Baga planted in ’72, North oriented, massale selection. Clay-limestone soils.
Fermentation with stems, with native yeasts, in 1000-litre dornas and then pressed to age in old 2000-liter barrels for 11 months.
2023 was a very nice year in the Atlantic coast, vegetative cycle starting earlier due to warmer winter but balanced spring and summer allowed to hold well two short cycles of warmer days in August. The traditional rain in September allowed to have a good maturation cycle – phenolic maturation at its best, resulting in wines with good acidity but putting together fluidity and seriousness.
