Domaine De Courcel

Constance e Édouard
França

In our early days, still in our late teens, one of our first encounters with wine came with a bottle of Pommard. To keep this memory alive, the name of this prestigious village south of Beaune remained engraved in our minds.

Domaine De Courcel has significant historical weight, having produced wines for four centuries.

This estate, led since 2025 by the new generation of the family — Constance and Édouard — cultivates 10.5 hectares organically, with an unusual 75% of the vineyards located in four Premiers Crus: Les Frémiers, Les Croix Noires, Le Grand Clos des Épenots (the estate’s monopole) and the prestigious Les Rugiens.

Pommard is the cru in the Côtes de Beaune that produces the most fleshy and rooted wines, with a beautiful tannic load — a character that is reinforced on this estate, seeking density and structure, always with a concern for the full ripening of the grapes, waiting for the harvest as late as possible.

Yves Confuron, who ran the estate alongside his work on the family property in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot, passed the baton in 2025 to Pierre Clair, who also has a deep knowledge of the climats of Burgundy, having previously worked at Domaine de Montille.

After a break without De Courcel wines, we move on to the second act for a return to our first loves.
