January is the month to start pruning while nature rests and accumulates water reserves in the soil for when it wakes up.
While we cultivate the vineyard, it’s time to cultivate the dream of beautiful encounters.
This year Os Goliardos celebrate 20 years of a good life and the festivities are already marinating.

ETRUSCAN WINE TASTING
In order not to limit ourselves to the unavoidable Sangiovese and the omnipresent Tuscany, we have decided to broaden our horizons and historical vision at the beginning of 2025, to combine hedonistic and spiritual cultures. Under the guidance of Portugal’s foremost lover of Etruria, Dr Clelia Bettini, we have the pleasure of inviting you to an unprecedented and exclusive tasting of Etruscan wines on 17 February, accompanied by a leg of wild boar from Trás-os-Montes provided by the almost Etruscan hunters of the great village of Especiosa.
The Etruscans developed one of the most important pre-Roman civilisations that began in the 9th century BC until the 1st century BC, with its apogee between the 7th and 5th centuries. This civilisation of navigators and artisans was considered the bridge between Greek and Roman culture and its origin is still debated: it was a people from Asia Minor who settled in the area between Tuscany and Rome today, with parts of Emilia-Romagna, Latium, Umbria, Marche and Campania, as far as Corsica, or an indigenous people who gathered various Asian and Hellenic influences, or a mixture of the two.
An urban civilisation inspired by the Greek City-State, it was elitist, changing from a monarchy to an oligarchy of large families, characterised by the fundamental role of women in the transmission of power. The Etruscan Empire created the first Italian cities, some located near the Tyrrhenian coast (Populonia, Tarquinia, Caere, Vulci, Volterra…) and others inland in strategic locations such as Orvieto, Perugia, Cortone, Arezzo. Innovators in the architectural and urban planning fields, they also developed one of the strongest metallurgical industries in Antiquity.
The Etruscan culture left a valuable legacy for the Roman civilisation, in urbanism, architecture and above all in the transmission of the Hellenic heritage to the Italic peoples, starting with the wine cult, namely through the promotion of the banquet and the symposium where women were active contrary to the Greek tradition in which they were kept away from these ceremonies. We’ll taste Etruscan wines from Tuscany to Campania, from Marche to Corsica and travel through these lands in a glass of wine.
