Domaine François Chidaine

Loire

It was in 1989 that François Chidaine launched himself as an independent wine grower, after supporting his parents for 5 years and following the economic difficulties they suffered despite the strenuous work that the vineyard gave them. He then decided to recover 3 ha of the family and buy 1.5 ha. In 1998 he already had 10 ha of vineyards in Montlouis and in 2002 he rented 10 ha of vineyards in neighboring Vouvray, which has always enjoyed a greater prestige. Today it has 35 ha: 20 ha (45 plots) in Montlouis, 10 ha in Vouvray and 5 ha in DOC Touraine where it produces a red, a rosé and a white (Sauvignon blanc). Today he is a producer (re) known for his wines and also for his ability to energize the region, associate his producers and support young winegrowers who invest in making authentic wines that reveal the different parcels. He and his wife Manuela created a wine cellar in Montlouis to showcase wines from the Loire but also from other regions and countries. For François Chidaine, wine implies an individual passion but also a local and global collective movement. It is a life of dedication and serious work over time.
