90% reds, including Rufete, Bastardo, Marufo and other red varieties. The remainder is a white blend comprising Malvasia, Síria and Rabo de Ovelha. 2021 was a rainy year with difficult ripening conditions; the harvest was carried out in two stages, both to avoid the rain and to allow some of the vines to reach greater ripeness. The first harvest took place on 25 September, accounting for around half of the total, with the second half harvested five days later. All the grapes were destemmed; almost half underwent maceration for 15 days (first harvest date), whilst the remainder underwent 8 days of maceration before being pressed into 225-litre barrels, where they remained for 11 months until racking into stainless steel. The wine was bottled in November 2022.
